Scrap It With a Song Challenge #7

Scrap It With a Song is back with a new song this Memorial Day. Speaking of which I would like to take a moment to say that taking a day to honor the troops is so important and I'm so thankful for their sacrifice. My father spent quite a bit of time away when I was very young and as much as it would have been great if had been with us, I appreciate the sacrifice he and all other members of the military make and have made to keep us safe.

The song this week is I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack. It is a beautiful song that I have loved for years and after listening to it again I knew right away that I wanted to do a graduation LO with the song. The song speaks about a lot of hope for the future of a young person. I thought that these photos of preschool graduation would be great because the song represents the hopes I have for the young children I work with. As you can see I did have to blur out their adorable little faces but trust me they were all so so cute on their big day.

The Craft Garden is our generous sponsor this week and is offering a git certificate to the winner. I used my new CC Girl Friday papers for this LO but mixed with a few other brands of embellies like MME letters, SL rubons, and Paperchase owl stickers. I'm sure you will all have some fantastic ideas about how to use this new song. Please share your takes with us and check out the blog for more inspiration from the design team.

Pink Elephant Scrapbooking Challenge #9

There is a new challenge at the Pink Elephant and its a theme challenge. I love theme challenges because they are so open. The theme is summer and this is a picture from one of my summer family vacations.

I combined the theme with the sketch at Creative Scrappers. I used the Sassafras Lass Monstrosity collection. I love SL's bordered and sometimes lined papers like this that are perfect for backgrounds and even journaling right on the page. It makes everything come together so much faster.

I can't wait to see what everyone does with the challenge! Check out the blog to see all the DTs creations and inspirations!

Caardvarks Sketch for May

Caardvarks has two sketches posted for the May challenge and here is my take on the other sketch. It a fun sketch that I've use my new Hello Sunshine papers to make.

Scrap It With a Song Challenge #6

This week the new song at Scrap It With a Song in Sweet Child o Mine by Guns and Roses. I thought the song fit well with the Honey Pie papers from Cosmo Cricket so I made a simple card with them. I'd love to see some other takes on the song so be sure to link yours up. You can be inspired in any way by the song from the lyrics to the theme. Also create any type of papercraft that suits you. We have a fabulous sponsor in the Crop Stop who is offering a $10 gift certificate.

Scrapbook Expo and a Card

I'll start with the card I made for the May Caardvarks challenge which is a sketch created by Heidi Van Laar. I made one for both sketches but here's just the first one. I made it with my new Cogsmo paper I got from the Expo this weekend.

Yesterday was the last day of the Scrapbook Expo in Somerset NJ. My mom and I had signed up to be paid volunteers. We worked at will call and baggage check for four hours to earn money for some guilt free spending. The working was boring because both booths were kind of slow but when I got to the showroom floor the time just flew. None of my local stores carries enough Cosmo Cricket so when I saw deals on Cosmo Cricket I just snapped it all up. One booth had Cosmo Cricket for 30% so I bought some of Girl Friday, Earth Love, and The Boyfriend.

If I didn't already have enough Cosmo Cricket, another booth had old 8x8 kits of Cosmo for only $2.50 a pack so I snapped up Cogsmo, Honey Pie, Hello Sunshine, and Get Happy. Then I picked up some Thickers half price because I've started using so many after starting to scrapbook again recently. Overall it was a great day and I'm so happy with all my new stuff even if I really didn't need any new things. The picture is of me and my mom with our loot. My mom bought a really neat chalk set. She loves techniques whereas I'm more of a paper girl. She was considering copics but she likes these fancy chalks better.

Sketch Girl #18

Its time for a new sketch at Sketch Girl! We had some fabulous entries last week so feel free to take a look at our new top 3!. This week we have a new sponsor and a fun sketch. Our sponsor is Softpencil digital stamps. I used one of their adorable stamps on my card. My card is made with some older Sassafras Lass paper. The cute image made me think this will be perfect for the preschool teacher that has mentored me for years as an end of the year thank you.

This month we also have a great new guest designer. Piali Biswas has been participating at Sketch Girl since the beginning and is super talented. Check out her and all the other sketch girls for inspiration then show us you take!

Basic Grey Challenge Photo Inspiration

Looking at the photo at Basic Grey Challenges this week made me want to create something girly and pink with a pit of other colors thrown in. I interpreted the two banners into the layers of paper/sticker strips because of how they hang layered in the picture. I think Nook and Pantry is such a fun whimsical line and I always like playing with it.
Speaking of fun things I wanted to share a new venture that Michelle is taking on. I worked with Michelle on the Digiments team so I know she is dedicated to her customers but now she is selling card kits on etsy with some fun paper including Basic Grey so feel free to check her out.

Scrap It With a Song Challenge #3

First I hope you all had a fantastic National Scrapbooking Day. I spent the day with my mom at the LSS and had lots of fun learning about some new products and picking up some clearance Basic Grey. My scrapbooking budget is tight since I ordered from the box sale at Sassafras Lass. Anyway... It's time for a new song challenge at Scrap It With a Song! The new song is Paparazzi by Lady Gaga and I went with a card this week. I think that song begs for funky and I went with funky colors and a funky little saying right from the lyrics. The papers are from Sassafras Lass. I can't wait to see everyone's interpretation of the song this week. Also Christina is sponsoring us again this week with a fabulous card kit. Check out the website for the details on the kit and for more DT inspiration!
