You Stole My Heart

I have been enjoying playing with my Newton's Nook stamps these past few days. To created the heart background I heat embossed the heart border from Sweetheart Tails and then used paint to add color. The embossing resisted the paint so a quick swipe with a damp cloth left white hearts on a colored background. I love colors especially bright colors but decided to mix it up a bit and keep the card neutral except for the pops of pink on this adorable raccoon also from Sweetheart Tails.

You're Fintastic

Paper Smooches Sparks challenge this week includes an awesome inspiration picture. I knew I wanted to pull out a rainbow of Distress Inks and pick one small image to use in a repeated way.

The little fish is from Paper Smooches Briny Blue. I simply layered it up with several colors of Distress Ink stamping.

So please feel free to join us a link up a card anytime. I would love to check out your work. This week we are being sponsored by Stitchy Bear and I so enjoyed working with their Feelin Low image. This elephant looks miserable but adorable at the same time! The coloring is done with Copic markers, the sentiment is Lawn Fawn, and the papers are Studio Calico.

Loads of Thanks

School is out for the summer so I have extra time on my hands so I am trying to participate in lots of challenges and stretch myself as a crafter. So today I attempted a clean and simple card for a few CAS challenges. I decided I would make an Any Hero card for Operation Write Home because I knew a hero would appreciate it even if it wasn't a masterpiece. However I can not seem to take a good picture of it.

Welcome Baby

When I saw the new Poppy Sketch Challenge included a pattern and not a color combo I knew I wanted to try it. I have been wanting to use up some patterned paper, but that's a little trickier with color combos. However I knew it would be no problem with a pattern. If you would like to see a video sharing a little more about this card please scroll to the bottom.

After a few minutes of looking, I found two sheets from Echo Park's Happy Days one of which had the necessary harlequin pattern. Then I tried to pick an image to go with the sketch and immediately I thought of the little mommy and baby cat from Newton's Nook Designs Wild Child set. I knew they would fit because they are more horizontal.

But then I saw the bears would be great too and I just couldn't leave them out so I made a second card with the bears from Newton's Nook Designs Wild Child. While blue is a very prominent color on these card I think these cards could work to welcome a new baby of either gender because they are bright and graphic. The images are colored with Copics and then I use come Fired Brick Distress Ink around the edges to make them pop and tie them into the rest of the card colors.

Dad You're the Best Freebie

I wanted to create a simple new free printable for you to use for Father's Day. Creating cards for guys can definitely be a bit tricky and I always try to keep the design and patterns simple.

I simply printed my tag and then ran it through my die cut machine with a circle die but you could simply trace a slightly larger circle and cut it out. I layered up some Studio Calico papers and then added the tag on top so it would be the focus. Please feel free right click to save the printable and share it with friends on Pinterest.

Happy Owlidays

I wanted to create a simple Christmas card with Lawn Fawn's Winter Owl. I also used the Lawn Fawn Peace Love Joy 6x6 pad. I colored him with Inktense pencils.

Challenges:

Last Friday was the last day for school for us, but we will be moving locations so we had to pack our entire classrooms. It was both exciting and a little sad. This was my first classroom so I've learned and taught a lot in that room. But I am excited to enter a new classroom in August and see how I can make a new space work for me, my coteacher, and my students.
