Creating a Birthday Shaker Card with the Fuse Tool featuring Newton's Nook Designs

Birthday Shaker Card by Jess Gerstner using Newton's Nook Designs and WRMK Fuse Tool

Hello crafty friends! Today I have a card for Newton's Nook Designs. I wanted to create a special birthday card so I pulled out some of my favorite Newton's Nook sets and my new Fuse tool to create a fun shaker. Check out the video for how I put it all together.

In case you missed it in the video here are the stamps and dies I used. The raccoon is from Sweetheart Tails, the balloons are from Newton's Birthday Flutter, the hearts are cut from the Newton's Naptime die and the sentiment is from Simply Sentimental.

Using Felt to Add Texture to the Sheep from How Are Ewe

Hello crafty friends! Today I am sharing a card using the awesome How Are Ewe stamp set. I wanted to give this sheep some texture so I stamped him on some felt. For more on how I made the felt work check out the video below.

I just adore Gerda's critters and love seeing how people add texture and dimension to them. Since I'm always up for a new idea: What is your favorite way to give critters texture and make them look more realistic?

Paper Piecing an Ocean Scene with Lawn Fawn for Butterfly Reflections Ink

Hello crafty friends! Today I have a card featuring Lawn Fawn's Fintastic Friends stamp set and dies with some of their paper pads. I'm sharing the video on the Butterfly Reflections Ink channel so if you watch the video from the blog be sure to click over to YouTube to subscribe.

I stamped the adorable fish, coral and rocks onto some scraps from the Let's Polka and Pint Sized Patterns Beachside pads. I used the Stitched Rectangles and Ocean Wave borders to create the ocean background.

For some added definition to the die cut elements I went around the stamped outlines with Copic Markers. This helped tone down patterns on the outside and focus in on the image. I love that Lawn Fawn's Fintastic Friends is great for summer but can be used all year long. I can totally see some gender neutral valentines with that cute pun this February.

Owl Birthday Card for Create a Smile Birthday Challenge

Owl Birthday Card featuring Create a Smile Stamps by Jess Gerstner

Hello crafty friends! Today I have a card to celebrate Create A Smiles One Year Anniversary. I adore Create a Smile stamps and so I decided to make another card for their birthday challenge. Please check out their blog for details about how to enter and check out the prize picture below. \

Owl Birthday Card featuring Create a Smile Stamps by Jess Gerstner

For today's card I was determined to make a birthday sentiment using just My Create a Smile stamps. So the results was kind of a cheeky sentiment teasing someone who is turning an older age. But I wanted to keep the card silly so I added the wiggle eyes to the owl. All the stamps are from the  Friends in the Woods set. As I was working on this card I kind of regretted not filming is as there are a few tips in the making of the card. Like masking off the 'for' in the 'for you-hoo' or turning the leave stamps around to stamp solid leaves. But I needed to be finished in time for the contest so just some pictures to enjoy today.

Clean and Simple Birthday Card with Custom Saying for Create a Smile Birthday Celebration

Hello crafty friends! Today I have a card to celebrate Create A Smiles One Year Anniversary. I adore Christine's stamps and so I wanted to create a card for their birthday challenge. Please check out their blog for details about how to enter and check out the prize picture below. For today's card I used Create a Smile stamps and stencils. For more details check out the video.

I really wanted to focus in on the stamps for this card so it's very clean and simple. When I first saw the Coffee First stamp set my immediate thought was to have the critters holding the little cups. This squirrel from Friends in the Woods is perfect because his hands look ready to hold something.  Once I decided to have the squirrel holding the little coffee cup I got some letter stickers for a custom birthday greeting and added some texture with embossing paste through the Wave of Stars Stencil.

Lawnscaping #109: Sparkle and Shine

Gold Foil Thanks Card by Jess Crafts for Lawnscaping Sparkle and Shine Challenge featuring Lawn Fawn Thanks, Heart and Puffy Cloud Dies

Hello crafty friends! Today I'm excited to share my first post as a member of the Lawnscaping Facebook Inspiration Team! I will be sharing projects for the challenges but also joining in on the monthly blog hop and making a special guest post once per month. So you will be seeing some more Lawn Fawn here and on my YouTube account. In fact this card has a video to provide further explanation.

Today's challenge is sparkle and shine! We wanted to see anything with some sparkle... sequins, glitters, bling, foil paper. Anything that sparkles and shines paired with some Lawn Fawn goodies. So today's card I used some shiny clear embossing to do the start resist in the background and then some gold foil to add shine to the sentiments and embellishments.

Using Color to Spotlight an Image featuring Newton's Nook Designs

Hey There Hottie Card by Jess Crafts using Newton's Nook Designs Love Ala Carte

Hello crafty friends! Today I have a bonus project for Newton's Nook Designs. I'm highlighting the older Love Ala Carte set. As a design team member I receive many stamps in exchange for my work, but this set was released before I was on the team and is such a must have I had to purchase it. The sentiments are just so punny! Check out the video for more on this card.

In case you don't have time for the video here's the summary. I had the idea of using the adorable"Hey there hottie" sentiment but wanted to add some impact to the pepper so I chose to highlight one pepper in red and leave the others green. I also added a bit of glossy accents with a precision tip for some shine to the red pepper. The coloring was done with Inktense Pencils on Distress Watercolor Cardstock.

Before I go I just wanted to mention that I will be continuing on with Newton's Nook Designs through the end of the year. I have already seen some of the upcoming release and Newton fans are going to be so excited! Be sure to save your pennies because there are some must haves in the future and with Newton's Nook Birthday coming soon you know there will be lots of inspiration!
