Inky Paws #11

Newton's Nook Designs has a great new color combo for their latest Inky Paws challenge. I used the Sweet Heart Tails set for this card.

The pink panel was created by stamping with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and clear embossing then blending with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. I colored the adorable fox with Copics. I haven't gotten as much into the sequin trend as some, but I think it was just what I needed to finished off this card. Papers are from an older Amy Tangerine line.

Thanks... You Are Fintastic

The latest Paper Smooches Sparks challenge is a Designer Drafts challenge. My card today features the set Briny Blue set from Paper Smooches.

I used some of the solid stamps to create my own patterned paper and then used it as a patterned paper element for the card. I have a video today showing the process.

You Are Sweet

A few days I discovered Gerda Steiner Designs. She makes such adorable digital stamps. This image is one of the freebies offered on her site.

I used Copics to color this adorable little fella and his donut. I wasn't very sure about the shadows with the coloring but I think he still turned out cute.

Thanks

Today I have a card and video for the latest Lawnscaping Stars and Stripes challenge. I thought it was a perfect challenge to make an AnyHero card for Operation Write Home. I wanted to make a card design that could be reproduced easily because with Hero mail you can make several that are the same to be used in different boxes sent by Operation Write Home. In the video, I show you how to set up the stamps so you can stamp several at a time.

For this card I used Happy 4th, Love You S'more and a Thanks speech bubble I got as a thank you with an order from Lawn Fawn.

I Love You Like

Recently I was flipping through my pocket page journaling cards while working on a scrapbooking project and when I saw "I love you like _____ loves ____" I felt like it could be turned into a super cute card. So I was thinking about my different critters and remember the Newton's Nook Sweetheart Tails had both a squirrel and nuts so I knew I had my plan. I colored the squirrel and nuts with Copic markers and then stamped the matching words with Lawn Fawn's Milo's ABCs. The cord is from Lawn Fawn as well and the papers are Studio Calico.

Hello

I tried no-line Copic coloring for the first time a few days ago. At first, I tried with Momento gray ink but I didn't like the way it looked against the skin tones even though it was very light. I tried the Momento Angel Pink next and liked the results a lot better.

The image I used is Skater Ian from The Greeting Farm. It took a lot longer to color but I really like the way it looks and think I will try it again.

So please feel free to join us a link up a card anytime. I would love to check out your work. This week we are being sponsored by Di's Digis. But my card today features stamps and papers from Lawn Fawn. I stamped the Impression Obsession cloud background onto a piece of cardstock die cut with the Lawn Fawn stitched journaling die. Then I used scalloped stencil and some Distress Ink to create the waves. Check out the video below if you would like to see more on how I made the waves.

Happy Birthday

I was recently asked if I could make some bird cards. I went through my stash to see what stamp I had. I found a set featuring this cardinal from Inkadinkado. I colored him and the background with Inktense pencils. I wanted to keep the focus on the cardinal so I used red throughout the card. I used papers from Basic Grey and lace from the Paper Studio.

Happy Birthday Party Animal

The latest AEIHeartU challenge is to make your own background paper. I love using my Distress Inks to make my own backgrounds to this was a very fun challenge. I haven't yet used my Party Animal stamp set so I knew that was the one I would use. I used Picked Raspberry, Spice Marmalade and Mustard Seed Distress Inks for the background. Then I stamped the balloon animal is Archival Jet Black ink. The border is some DCWV glitter paper. There glitter paper is so smooth and doesn't flake off. I love it!

Let's Shell-ebrate

I had made a few extra die cuts with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Card and Impression Obsession Cloud Background. I was crafting with my sister when she asked me about adding water to a beach scene she was trying to create. It made me think of a scalloped punch as waves so I tried it out. I punched the scallop border punch from cardstock and then added some Distress Ink in light to darker shades of blue. I loved the way it turned out and so I made a few and even created my own stencil with some plastic. In fact I had to make one for my sister too because she loved it just as much. So I've created a video to help explain the process better.

For this finished card I added Lawn Fawn turtles from Critters in the Sea and balloons and hats from Year Four colored with Inktense pencils. Then I stamped a sentiment from Paper Smooches Party Posse and birds from Lawn Fawn's Life's A Beach.

You Stole My Heart

I have been enjoying playing with my Newton's Nook stamps these past few days. To created the heart background I heat embossed the heart border from Sweetheart Tails and then used paint to add color. The embossing resisted the paint so a quick swipe with a damp cloth left white hearts on a colored background. I love colors especially bright colors but decided to mix it up a bit and keep the card neutral except for the pops of pink on this adorable raccoon also from Sweetheart Tails.

You're Fintastic

Paper Smooches Sparks challenge this week includes an awesome inspiration picture. I knew I wanted to pull out a rainbow of Distress Inks and pick one small image to use in a repeated way.

The little fish is from Paper Smooches Briny Blue. I simply layered it up with several colors of Distress Ink stamping.

Loads of Thanks

School is out for the summer so I have extra time on my hands so I am trying to participate in lots of challenges and stretch myself as a crafter. So today I attempted a clean and simple card for a few CAS challenges. I decided I would make an Any Hero card for Operation Write Home because I knew a hero would appreciate it even if it wasn't a masterpiece. However I can not seem to take a good picture of it.

Welcome Baby

When I saw the new Poppy Sketch Challenge included a pattern and not a color combo I knew I wanted to try it. I have been wanting to use up some patterned paper, but that's a little trickier with color combos. However I knew it would be no problem with a pattern. If you would like to see a video sharing a little more about this card please scroll to the bottom.

After a few minutes of looking, I found two sheets from Echo Park's Happy Days one of which had the necessary harlequin pattern. Then I tried to pick an image to go with the sketch and immediately I thought of the little mommy and baby cat from Newton's Nook Designs Wild Child set. I knew they would fit because they are more horizontal.

But then I saw the bears would be great too and I just couldn't leave them out so I made a second card with the bears from Newton's Nook Designs Wild Child. While blue is a very prominent color on these card I think these cards could work to welcome a new baby of either gender because they are bright and graphic. The images are colored with Copics and then I use come Fired Brick Distress Ink around the edges to make them pop and tie them into the rest of the card colors.
