When I saw the new
Poppy Sketch Challenge included a pattern and not a color combo I knew I wanted to try it. I have been wanting to use up some patterned paper, but that's a little trickier with color combos. However I knew it would be no problem with a pattern. If you would like to see a video sharing a little more about this card please scroll to the bottom.
After a few minutes of looking, I found two sheets from Echo Park's Happy Days one of which had the necessary harlequin pattern. Then I tried to pick an image to go with the sketch and immediately I thought of the little mommy and baby cat from
Newton's Nook Designs Wild Child set. I knew they would fit because they are more horizontal.
But then I saw the bears would be great too and I just couldn't leave them out so I made a second card with the bears from
Newton's Nook Designs Wild Child. While blue is a very prominent color on these card I think these cards could work to welcome a new baby of either gender because they are bright and graphic. The images are colored with Copics and then I use come Fired Brick Distress Ink around the edges to make them pop and tie them into the rest of the card colors.
