You Make My World Spin and a Video

This card started off with the inspiration photo at the Mama Elephant and Me challenge. However I'm sure you can tell it kind of took off in a brighter direction quickly. I started with the idea of the tops of the boxes in the photo look like the fireworks from the Mama Elephant Around We Go set. While I was at the Mama Elephant event in NYC they showed us how to use Hero Arts daubers to add color to the fireworks and I wanted to make use of that technique. However I'm cheap and so I use bingo markers from the dollar store. For more on how this card came together check out my video below.

Sister Act Card Challenge #65

I have a new card today for Sister Act Card Challenges. I love these challenges because it's a simple anything goes card only challenge that gives people a platform to share their work. So please feel free to join us a link up a card anytime. I would love to check out your work. This week we are being sponsored by Paper Nest Dolls. But my card today features stamps and papers from Lawn Fawn. I stamped the hot air balloons and sentiment on watercolor paper and colored them with Inktense pencils. I will be adding a tutorial about using Inktense pencils to my YouTube channel soon so head on over there and subscribe so you can see it. I have some other tutorials for you to check out in the mean time. I actually made several of this card so it could be a set in my Etsy shop.

Season's Greetings

Today's card started with the Jingle Belles challenge to use up old stash. The papers and ribbon are from Cosmo Cricket's Jolly By Golly line which I adore. I actually won the papers and ribbon which was great since I wasn't able to easily order online when they were available and couldn't find them in stores but because I love this collection I have hoarded it. Well today I give up a small bit of it. I also am using this reindeer stamp that is quite old. I used the Copic no-line coloring technique. The way I do the no-line coloring is by stamping in a light ink such as Momento Angel Pink and then coloring over the lines as I go. I really love the way it looks but it's more time consuming and a bit of a strain on the eyes. Maybe as I get better I will share a how-to video on my You Tube channel but for now several of my videos featuring Copic coloring of critters.

Post-it Note Holder Video Tutorial

Today I am sharing a project and video for the latest Lawnscaping challenge which is a color challenge. My project is a Post-it note holder.  In the video below I will show you how to make the fun ocean background paper, how to stamp on sandpaper, some simple Copic coloring and of course how to make the actual note holder.

I hope you'll consider following the video over to YouTube where you can subscribe to my channel. It makes a great inexpensive little gift. I've made them for co-workers in the past. I've used the Lawn Fawn sets Life is Good and Critters in the Sea.

Love You

Recently I was lucky enough to win this adorable digital image on Instagram from Gerda Steiner Designs. She has a progressive challenge at her site. If you make a card using the digi of the month you get the next month's digi free. This is an awesome deal so of course I had to make a card for the challenge right away.

I colored the cute kitty with Copic makers us W1-7 for the card and E31-37 for the box. The sentiment is Lawn Fawn and the papers are Recollections. The twine was actually taken off a bakery box. I can't seem to throw out little bits of fiber from packaging because I can often use them on cards. This card is another one for the Operation Write Home Virtual Card Making Party. One of the hosts is generously donating $1 to Operation Write Home for every critter card linked to the challenge so please consider joining along.

You're Purrfect and Missing You

Operation Write Home is having a Virtual Card Making Party in honor of the 4th of July. They have a lot of great challenges and I'm going to try to play along in a few before they close. These cards are for the His and Hers Sketch challenge sponsored by Paper Smooches. You pick an OWH sketch (I used #2) and then create two cards one for a guy and one for a girl.

I love Paper Smooches and they are having their Anything Goes Paper Smooches Sparks challenge this week so I used the Chubby Chums set for my card. Check out the set in their store if you're interested.
