ICS #40

I needed a last minute Halloween card so I combined some supplies from a goodie bag I bought recently and the ICS Sketch #40.

ICS and Pink Elephant

I'm back this week with another combination of the ICS sketch and the Pink Elephant challenge. The Pink Elephant challenge called for some awesome Halloween colors this week and I'm in need of a few Halloween cards so it was perfect. The papers are from some old DCWV paper pads including the ghost I cut out from the paper. The stamps I picked up on clearance from Target last year and are from Making Memories.

ICS and Pink Elephant

On World Card Making Day I spent some time with my mom making cards. I made this simple card with the ICS sketch and the Pink Elephant challenge. I haven't participated at Pink Elephant in awhile but I love their variety of challenges. This week you had to use dots, a tag and a punch. This card came together really quick since its only a tiny 3x3 but also because I kept it simple only using Making Memories supplies. The other card I made was for a future Sketch Girl sketch so I can't share it yet but remember to check out their current sketch because there is a chance for a prize and a fab guest designer this week!

ICS #33

I've been feeling much more creative now that I've settled into school. My schedule this week hasn't quite normalized yet but I'm back in school mode at least. So when I got the time to be creative (i.e. decided some of my readings can wait until tomorrow) I went right to ICS to find some inspiration.

This summer my boyfriend and I spent quite a bit of time hiking and taking wildlife, specifically bird pictures. I printed extras of some during Walgreens recent photo week but sometimes the bird was quite small in the picture. I think I need to zoom in for better scrapbook pictures. But I have these prints now that my boyfriend took and I find quite inspirational. So inspired by the Paper Crafts Mag blog's mention of photo cards I decided I would turn the photos into card embellishments much like a stamped image might be used. So for this week's sketch at ICS I used the picture of a common yellowthroat warbler and GCD Studios paper. The orginal picture is below. What I like best about this card is I can see it equally being a wall hanging, scrapbook page, or a card really its just how you look at it.

Speaking of design teams, the Digiments design team, myself included, have recieved the new September release and are busy making projects with the awesome new sentiments. Also Michelle has a fabulous surprise this month that I know will make many people even more eager to get their hands on this month's Digiments.

ICS #29

Here's my card for ICS #29. When I saw the sketch it made me think of my new Rusty Pickle Brass Knuckles collection. I fussy cut the scroll design from Backstage Pass and the bird from Album Cover. I figured keeping it simple but sparkly was the way to go because these papers are so bold that they make a statement without much embellishmet.

Lots of Challenges

This card was made for several challenge. It started with the ICS sketch and challenge to make a Christmas card. I combined this with the Caardvarks challenge to make a winter card and the Pile it On challenge to use no patterned paper. Finally since I wasn't going to use patterned paper I knew I'd be pulling out the stamps so I incorporated the Stamp Something use a charm challenge. I loved the challenge of using no patterned paper and had fun making the snowflake design for my card. My charm is the fun plastic ornament that I got in a swap. I've been in a bit of a funk and this card got me going again. I love when a challenge is not only a bit difficult but also really inspiring and that's what I got when I combined all these fun challenges.

ICS #26 Guest Designer

Even though I'm away I've scheduled this post because I'm once again honored to be guest desinger for ICS for the week. Love the sketch this week because blocking techniques can be challenging but I love the clean simple effect they create. Guest Designer for ICS

I'm so honored to be the guest designer at Inspirational Card Sketches for the next two weeks! Like many of you already know I loved this site and its talented lovely design team. I've been participating with them since pretty much the begining so I was very excited to be chosen as GD for two weeks. Thanks so much to Dawn and her team!

Cosmo Cricket Love and ICS 24

Here's my card for ICS 24. I haven't done all of the sketches this summer but I am resolved to try harder to get the ICS sketch in each week. The design team is so talented and super sweet making this one of my fave challenge sites. You might notice that the paper is from Cosmo Cricket's Hello Sunshine. This card came together rather quick because I have Cosmo Cricket on the brain and working with Hello Sunshine is easy because its so fun and bright. The reason I have Cosmo Cricket on the brain is because of their Sneak Peek Video Contest. I wasn't going to enter because I have no video skills but when I heard there weren't many entries and the odds of winning were pretty good I thought why not give it a shot. I have nothing to lose of course though I admit the video is a bit embarassing but home videos tend to be. But I'm going to risk embarassment to give you a good laugh and show you the video. Enjoy!

ICS and Use It

I created this card with the ICS sketch from this week. I love Dawn's sketches because they always give me a challenge. I also used the Use It challenge for this card. The requirements were to be inspired by nature, use polka dots, use our fave embellie and send it to someone special. The paper is from K and Co and it inspired me to use the butterfly punch and handcut a strawberry because they can be seen in the PP. Making embellies from paper is defintely one of my faves because paper is more of an addiction to me than any other supply.

This is a male Yellowthroat Warbler. There is at least one pair nesting in the meadow where we often go birding. They are probably the cutest of the bird couples we see there. But I probably only think that because I love their bright yellow.

Digiments June Release

The new June release of Digiments is today. There are 30 new Digiments in six lines and this weekend only you can get the entire release for $10! This card is made with one of the contest Digiments that you can get for free on the site. This card was also made the sketch at ICS this week. Loved the simple sketch. I used my new pack of GCD Studios paper. I accented the card and paper with Stickles. Head on over to the Digiments site to see the DT work and all the new sentiments.

ICS #18

Here's my card for ICS this week. I love how the sketch suggested an element that comes off the card. I made the card a bit smaller so it will still fit in the envelope. I made the card with Sassafras Lass scraps from some LOs I made this weekend. I was able to pick up this Hog Heaven paper pack for $9 because of clearance and a coupon! I was so excited I went home and made two LOs with it right away, including the one below for the Vintage Plum "All that Glitters" challenge.

Two Cards to Share

This first card is for this week's Use It challenge and the ICS sketch. The Use It challenge was quite complex. You had to make a square card, with a summer theme and sentiment, use twine, a flower, a pin, and ribbon, and punches. Then I combined it with the ICS sketch. It was quite a challenge to get all that on one 4x4 card.

This second card was made using a sketch from Stamp Something. The frog stamp is from Colorbok Friendly Forest. The papers are from Colorbok as well and came in a pack of chipboard. The chipboard alone was a great deal but it was cool to get some bonus paper. The plaid paper I used makes this card also fit the plaid challenge from last week at 365 Cards.

Two Combos

After the craziness of this week I wanted to catch up on some challenges for I've done some combos. ICS has a new DT this week so go check out the work of those talented ladies! Here's my take on this week's sketch. I also used the Card-a-licious challenge of pink, brown, and scallops on this card. The papers used are DCWV Rock Queen Stack and those stamps are from Making Memories. And since these papers are from Rock Queen plus the saying I think it work for the Corrosive Challenge Blog challenge this week to use a rock music theme. Corrosive Challenges is a relatively new challenge blog with lots of fun varied challenges. Defintely worth checking out.


This is the LO I did for Vintage Plum's Star Search Fussy Cuts challenge but also for Use Your Stash Glitter challenge. Since I love to use Stickles on just about anything that challenge was a no brainer for me. Vintage Plum is a great kit company that holds lots of challenge and has fun tutorials so you should definitely check them out.

ICS #15

First up is my card for this week's ICS sketch. I love the skunk from the Colorbok Friendly Forest Line but my boyfriend always criticizes the cards I make with it because he says the skunks have nothing to do with the occasion so when my new stamp set came with the "so stinkin cute" stamp I knew I had to make a card for the skunk that would 'make sense.' So here it is. I used SEI papers.

The next card was also made with my new Hero Arts stamp set. The challenge this week at the Hero Arts blog was to make a card based off of the Win a Day on the Blog entires. I loved tanyac21's card That featured a little scene and so I did one of my own. I'm loving my new stamp set and have been using it all week.

Digiments and ICS 14

I had a bit of a busy week so I only created two cards this week, but with National Scrapbooking Day this weekend as well as Vintage Plum's crop I hope to work on some new this weekend. While still managing to start studying for finals.


Here's my take on the ICS Sketch this week. I just knew I wanted to work with BG Mellow with this sketch because I had the flower chipboard that I thought would work with the sketch. I used glitter gel pens to accent the chipboard flower.


Here's my audition for the Digiments DT. Digiments is a digital stamp company that will be focusing on sentiment stamps. Michelle the owner and creator is a lovely talented lady. She's soon going to be selling her beautiful stamps online for very reasonable prices so keep an eye on their new blog. I can't wait to see the new DT!

ICS #13 and Vintage Plum Creative Cafe

Here's my take on this week's ICS sketch. I decided that since it was such a funky sketch it would be perfect for BG Obscure. ICS is having a DT call and since I love Dawn's sketches I figure I should give it a shot. So I'll be working on that sketch this weekend.


This is a bookmark I made for Vintage Plum's Creative Cafe hosted by Lea Lawson. Lea's orginal project used wire but I didn't have any so I swapped it for a wide craft stick. I love the way it turned out, but I'm hestiant to use it for its intended purpose because I'm always tossing my books into my bags with all my other junk and it'll probably get crushed. My cousin is gentle with books though so maybe she'll be getting a new bookmark. I have a busy weekend planned but I'm excited for it as well. Have a great weekend everyone!

CPS, Vintage Plum, Pink Elephant, and ICS

Over at Vintage Plum they had a create a cupcake challenge and I decided to make another ribbon cupcake. My sister really liked the cupcake card I made her and I thought it would make another special birthday card for someone else. After I finished the cupcake accent I based the card on the CPS sketch this week.


I made this card for the Pink Elephant challenge to use pink, green and yellow and using the sketch from ICS. I've been making some scrapbook pages this week so I haven't had as much time for cards so I combined the challenges. I love the simplicity of the ICS sketch this week because it allowed for a lot of creativity. I was determined to mix some Sassafras Lass papers because I love them, but they challenge me with their eclectic nature.

CPS 110 and ICS 11

One of my classes was cancelled so I made some cards this morning...


Here's my card for CPS 110. I just picked up these papers and the tags from SEI at an LSS this weekend. I love how when using coordinating supplies a card can come together so much faster.

This second card is for the ICS 11. Sometimes Dawn's sketches throw me for a loop but this one came together easily. The papers are from BG Marrakech, I love these papers, but I find it easier to work with bright colors, but this time I was happy with how it came out. I had to ink the flowers because they were too bright. The stamp is from Colorbok and I think this will make a fun graduation card.

ICS #10 and Stamp Something

This first card is my take on ICS Sketch 10. The paper is from BG Euphoria. I asked my younger cousin to pick her favorite line for the card and she unsurprisingly was draw to all the purple (it's her fave color). The cute little stamps on this card and the one below are from Studio G and were sent to me from the lovely Suzanne. I had so much fun playing with the stamps this weekend.


This card I made for the Stamp Something challenge to stamp an Easter something. The paper I used is from SEI. I love how the paper contained the cute scalloped stripes and so I cut them out to create a card accent.


I just had to share the adorable card Suzanne sent me with those stamps. It's just too cute! She's a super talented lady and I love visiting her at the Card Garden. I have some time to craft tonight and can't wait to get started on the Card Patterns Sketch this week.
