Past Projects

Unfortunately my creative energy has been a little lacking since I've gotten back from vacation so I haven't made any new projects this past week but I figured that would make it a good time to share some past projects then.

I used a pattern from KaiserCraft to make this little purse for my cousin's birthday. The pattern is for an 8 1/2 x 11 paper so the final project is a little small but big enough to tuch a treat in and perfect for any girly girl. I made one modification to the pattern. I punched the two holes to thread the ribbon through in order to make the purse easy to open and close. The orginal calls for a flap and brad closure. I encourage you to go on the Kaiser Craft website and check out all the wonderful free downloadable patterns.

The tags I used are from the Every Jot and Title on Etsy. I simply added some rhinestones to the orginal heart and rub-ons for added detail.

The next couple of pictures are from a bridal shower I helped my grams host. Above is the towel cake that we made. Super easy to do. Simple roll various size towels (washrag, handtowel, standard towl) then secure with a rubber band. Cover the rubber band with some ribbon and stack the laters. A dowel through the center will keep the cake a bit more secure.

Here is the basket full of favors for the bride to give out. My grams couldn't decide on jsut one favor when I gave her a few ideas so we wound up making three different favors. So that large basket is completely packed with different favors.

Here you can see all the favors nestled in the basket. I never did get any good pictures of all our hard work because we finished so late at night and only have indoor flash photos on my tiny point and shoot.

These are the three different types of favors. The first is a little matchbook which I've made before and I'm sure you've seen all over online. If you need a quick and cheap favor for any occassion I highly recommend these. Two folds and a staple complete the body and you can decorate it with any stamps which keep it low cost. I recommend the individually wrapper Lifesaver Wint-o-greens to go inside because then you don't have to worry about melting but lots of other treat would work. Next up is a post it holder and mini pen. I found the directions for these on Vintage Plum. Last is a rather traditional favor. We used a sea theme because the weddng was in the island destination wedding. I will be back soon with fresh projects!

Sketch Girl 2

The new Sketch Girl sketch is up!

Head over and show us your take on the sketch. I loved this sketch because it was simple enough that you could make a whole stack of cards, a quick one when you're whipping something up last minute, or you could take your time to make it fancy. I went for making a quick simple card because I've had a busy week. I got back from vacation this week and have been helping my mom with some home improvement.

ICS #26 Guest Designer

Even though I'm away I've scheduled this post because I'm once again honored to be guest desinger for ICS for the week. Love the sketch this week because blocking techniques can be challenging but I love the clean simple effect they create. Sketch Girl

I am so proud to say that I will be designing for Sketch Girl. It is a brand new card sketch site. The first sketch went live this week and I'm so excited to share with you my take. The sketches will be every two weeks so you'll have plenty of time to join in on the fun. Also in the next few challenges there will be prizes so head on over and become a follower so you can stay up to date on all the latest. Besides using the fun Sketch Girl sketch I used the Use It challenge. The challenge was monochromatic (one color with a neutral, for me black), a favorite stamp, a tag, and a layered flower. I know its kind of odd to see a Halloween card but I bought these stamps after Halloween and I've really been wanting to use them so I finally gave in. The paper is from the Rock Queen stack from DCWV.

Weekend Scrapping

This first card is for GCD Studios Bold and Simple contest. I lov using their product and usually projects I make with their paper do turn out quite simple because the papers really stand out. Also the tags make for quick cards and LOs because they make a great focal feautre or fast journaling.

This card combines the Pile It On challenge with one of the challenges at 365 Cards. Pile It On was a sketch this week and the 365 Cards challenge was to use paper piercing. Not a technique I've ever really used but I like the look and its super simple.
