Today I have a card and video featuring the adorable mummy cat from Gerda Steiner Designs.

I will be sharing more videos with the other stamps from the release in the future. For this card I wanted to try a technique that wouldn't work with digital stamps since I had the pleasure of finally having Gerda Steiner cuteness is rubber form. So I used it for an emboss resist. 

Newton's Nook August Release Day 1

Hello all! I'm so excited for the latest Newton's Nook Design release because the new sets are awesome. How cute are these little critters from Hanging Around?! To create the background I turned the cloud upside down and stamped the back so it would be a solid cloud and embossed it. After I had the embossed clouds I use Distress Stain in Salty Ocean to color the background and the embossed clouds resisted the stain. Then I colored three of the adorable animals from the set with my Inktense Pencils and fussy cut them.While this card did take quite, awhile with all the embossing and fussy cutting, I think it will be perfect for a friend going through a tough time. I love that this encouragement sentiment is general enough to work for many encouragement occasions. See the stamp set below and read to see how you can win it!

I love Stacey Yacula stamps from Purple Onion Designs and treated myself to some of the winter ones last year but haven't actually inked this fox. I colored the fox with Inktense pencils and used papers from Jillibean Soup. Besides using a new stamp I actually used some ribbon and buttons and it feels good to use up some stash besides paper, stamps, and ink.

Newton's Nook Designs July Release Day 2 Beach Party

Today I'm excited to share with you the next stamp set from the July Release at Newton's Nook Designs and there's a giveaway involved. The newest stamps are so cute I've had a hard time putting them down. Today is Beach Party. There are so many adorable critter stamps in this set and I've used two of the them on these cards. I've created a video on how to make the sunset background on these card panels.

As discussed in the video the ocean scene is created with Inktense pencils and the critters are colored with Copic markers. Please read more below for your chance to win!

Newton's Nook Designs July Release Day 1 Newton's Daydream

Today I'm excited to share with you the first stamp set from the July Release at Newton's Nook Designs and there's a giveaway involved. The newest stamps are so cute I've had a hard time putting them down. Today is Newton's Daydream. This is a small set with a sleeping Newton but with some masking I was able to make Newton dreaming of a friend. The coloring was done with my Inktense pencils. I've also created my own bit of patterned paper with the purple cardstock by stamping some of the sentiments from this release.

Happy Birthday

I was recently asked if I could make some bird cards. I went through my stash to see what stamp I had. I found a set featuring this cardinal from Inkadinkado. I colored him and the background with Inktense pencils. I wanted to keep the focus on the cardinal so I used red throughout the card. I used papers from Basic Grey and lace from the Paper Studio.

I had made a few extra die cuts with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Card and Impression Obsession Cloud Background. I was crafting with my sister when she asked me about adding water to a beach scene she was trying to create. It made me think of a scalloped punch as waves so I tried it out. I punched the scallop border punch from cardstock and then added some Distress Ink in light to darker shades of blue. I loved the way it turned out and so I made a few and even created my own stencil with some plastic. In fact I had to make one for my sister too because she loved it just as much. So I've created a video to help explain the process better.

For this finished card I added Lawn Fawn turtles from Critters in the Sea and balloons and hats from Year Four colored with Inktense pencils. Then I stamped a sentiment from Paper Smooches Party Posse and birds from Lawn Fawn's Life's A Beach.

Addicted to Stamps and More Holiday

Last Friday was the last day for school for us, but we will be moving locations so we had to pack our entire classrooms. It was both exciting and a little sad. This was my first classroom so I've learned and taught a lot in that room. But I am excited to enter a new classroom in August and see how I can make a new space work for me, my coteacher, and my students.

Let's Celebrate

Lawnscaping Challenges has issued an embossing challenge this time around. I love using heat embossing with resist technique so I created the sky by using white glitter heat embossing for the clouds from Into the Woods and then painting it over with some basic watercolors. 

I also wanted to use the same technique to make some fun balloons from the Admit One dies to turn this into a great birthday card for a dog lover. I used black heat embossing to make a pattern on the balloons and colored over them with water color as well.

I used my Inktense pencils to color in the adorable doggies and fire hydrant from Critters in the Dog Park. Then layered them up to create a fun party scene. The simple sentiment was one of the freebie stamps you get when you order from Lawn Fawn. Thanks for stopping by!

It's a Boy and Winners!

I wanted to make a dinosaur themed baby card for my Etsy shop. People seem to really like dino cards and I thought dinos would be perfect for a baby boy. I used the Lawn Fawn Critters from the Past stamps and dies. I colored the dinos with Inktense Pencils and used the Pebbles From Me to You paper line.

I've had the song All of Me by John Legend stuck in my head all week so when I saw the challenge at Shopping Our Stash to use a song for inspiration I knew I wanted to pair some sweet critters with the lyric "All of Me Loves All of You." I emphasized some elements with glossy accents, but overall I kept it really simple to focus on the sentiment. All of the stamps are from Lawn Fawn and the coloring was done mostly with Inktense pencils.

The Paper Smooches Sparks challenge is a photo inspiration this week. I loved the bright color combo and the fun paper lanterns so I focused on those elements for my inspiration. The paper lanterns reminded me to the elements in the Mojo Monday sketch so I used that as well for my card. The dino and sentiment are from Party Posse. The coloring is done with Inktense pencils.
