Pink Elephant Don't Throw That Away Challenge

Here's my take on the Pink Elephant Don't Throw That Away challenge. This week at my craft club we decided to see what we could make with old magazines. We rolled magazine strips which was quite time consuming. I came home with a bunch of rolled tubes but no project. I have seen many people make frames but I didn't want it to be just a frame so this project is a card that has cardstock flaps that allow it to stand even though its so top heavy. I figure this will make a great quick present because its a card and a gift all at the same time.

Speaking of presents earlier today I made a couple of little boxes for small presents. I think this one would be perfect for some candies for my mom this mother's day.

ICS #13 and Vintage Plum Creative Cafe

Here's my take on this week's ICS sketch. I decided that since it was such a funky sketch it would be perfect for BG Obscure. ICS is having a DT call and since I love Dawn's sketches I figure I should give it a shot. So I'll be working on that sketch this weekend.

This is a bookmark I made for Vintage Plum's Creative Cafe hosted by Lea Lawson. Lea's orginal project used wire but I didn't have any so I swapped it for a wide craft stick. I love the way it turned out, but I'm hestiant to use it for its intended purpose because I'm always tossing my books into my bags with all my other junk and it'll probably get crushed. My cousin is gentle with books though so maybe she'll be getting a new bookmark. I have a busy weekend planned but I'm excited for it as well. Have a great weekend everyone!

Card-a-licious 20 and Pink Elephant Mom Challenge

Here's my card for the Pink Elephant's make something for mom challenge. I will be selling cards at a craft show with my friend this week, she'll be selling jewelery, and I thought that having a few Mom cards might not be a bad idea since Mother's Day is only two weeks away. I used mostly handmade paper for this card because I was thinking of my mom while I made it and she loves pink and bling so these papers were perfect. The Pink Elephant also has a recycling challenge this week which I'm still working on but will be sharing soon.

This second card is for the Card-a-licious challenge which was to make a birthday card using blue, green and circles. I used the new papers I won from last month's Scrapjazz LO challenge. Card-a-licious is offering up a prize this week so you should certainly consider joining them this week if you havent' yet.

CPS and Card Patterns

I decided to break out the SassLass this weekend.

Here's my card for the CPS sketch. I love the edges on the bottom of Sass paper because usually I have to handcut any borders I want but these add instant flare and save me time. One of my friend recently bought a bunch of the birthday cards I had stashed away and since I'm going to a show with another friend this weekend I decided to make some more.

I thought the sketch at Card Patterns would be perfect for the large stickers that come in the collection packs. I love when I can mix a bunch of bold patterns and funky colors together and still get something that look coordinated (using a collection pack certainly helps with that). I plan on doing some more cards this week and have some other projects I've done without posting but wanted to share these challenge cards.

Use Your Stash Tags

Here's my LO for the Use Your Stash challenge to use tags. I have two tags from the We R Memory Keepers pack I used. I loved that the pack had letters, paper and tags all together because it helped the LO come together quite quickly. I actually use tags quite a bit on LOs because many times they make a great place to put some journaling, so this was a fun easy challenge for me.

CPS, Vintage Plum, Pink Elephant, and ICS

Over at Vintage Plum they had a create a cupcake challenge and I decided to make another ribbon cupcake. My sister really liked the cupcake card I made her and I thought it would make another special birthday card for someone else. After I finished the cupcake accent I based the card on the CPS sketch this week.

I made this card for the Pink Elephant challenge to use pink, green and yellow and using the sketch from ICS. I've been making some scrapbook pages this week so I haven't had as much time for cards so I combined the challenges. I love the simplicity of the ICS sketch this week because it allowed for a lot of creativity. I was determined to mix some Sassafras Lass papers because I love them, but they challenge me with their eclectic nature.

CP Sketch 10

Here's my card for Card Patterns Sketch 10. These are some papers I found in my mom's stash and I used her Martha Stewart butterfly punch. I think we both love to find fun supplies to play with in each others stashes. After I was finished I realized Michelle's card must have really stuck with me because I too wound up with butterfly accented with Stickles along the side. I have a few free hours tomorrow morning and I can't wait for the crafty time. Have a fabulous day!

Stamp Something Shape Challenge

The challenge this week at Stamp Something was to use shapes. I used a saying stamp from Studio G and the scalloped circle is from 7 Gypsies. I used the squares and circle for the shapes.

One weekend when I was home recently my mom and I were crafting together and I asked her if she wanted to do one of the challenges I was working on. Since then her and my cousins have been into doing challenges on weekends when I'm home. This is a card I made for one of the challenges they came up with for the four of us to do. It's been fun to craft with my family and watch the creativity they have.

2S4Y Laura's Sketch 23

Here's my take on Laura's Sketch 23. I haven't participated at 2S4Y but I had some extra time this week and wanted to make a quick card. All the paper is from SEI including the tags. I love how this lines mixes so many colors while still looking coordinated.

CPS 110 and ICS 11

One of my classes was cancelled so I made some cards this morning...

Here's my card for CPS 110. I just picked up these papers and the tags from SEI at an LSS this weekend. I love how when using coordinating supplies a card can come together so much faster.

This second card is for the ICS 11. Sometimes Dawn's sketches throw me for a loop but this one came together easily. The papers are from BG Marrakech, I love these papers, but I find it easier to work with bright colors, but this time I was happy with how it came out. I had to ink the flowers because they were too bright. The stamp is from Colorbok and I think this will make a fun graduation card.

Caardvarks and Pink Elephant

My grams requested a handmade card for a bridal shower. She says the lady is very sweet and always makes the favors for their parties at work, so I'm sure she'll appreciate a handmade card. The two cards below are the ones I plan to give to my grams as contenders.

This first one was for the Pink Elephant Recipe challenge. As the challenge requested I used a punch, some embossing, and a stamp. The punch is my brand new EK Success edger punch. I must admit there is a bit of a learning curve with lining it up properly but I like being able to get cute borders without tracing and handcutting. I used my cuttlebug for the first time in awhile to do the embossing. I want to get more embossing folders but I feel like I should use it more before I invest more money in it (unless I see the Swiss Dots folder somewhere because I'll snap that up). Lastly I used one Studio G stamp to create the pattern on the butterfly. The challenge really made me stretch my creavity to get it all on one card but I think it turned out well.

This card is for the Caardvarks fantasy challenge. I knew immeadiately that I would use the DCWV Once Upon A Time papers that I've had for awhile. The papers are so pretty and many have glitter already attached. I stitched gold fiber around the edge and it was a bit of a pain (because the thread kept coming apart) but I love the look in the end.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

Card Patterns #9

Here's the card I made for the Card Patterns sketch this week. I've been working with Euphoria a lot lately and wanted to put a funky spin on it so I was inspired to make the bright and glitterly chipboard embellishment. When I was at the craft show on Friday one lady requested a "get well" card but I didn't have one so I thought I should make to add to my collection of cards. I never hope to need one but if I sell again I'd like to have one on hand. Preschool has the week off so I was able to spend a few extra hours creating this morning and I'm excited about a project I am working on for my sister and hope to be able to share later.

ICS #10 and Stamp Something

This first card is my take on ICS Sketch 10. The paper is from BG Euphoria. I asked my younger cousin to pick her favorite line for the card and she unsurprisingly was draw to all the purple (it's her fave color). The cute little stamps on this card and the one below are from Studio G and were sent to me from the lovely Suzanne. I had so much fun playing with the stamps this weekend.

This card I made for the Stamp Something challenge to stamp an Easter something. The paper I used is from SEI. I love how the paper contained the cute scalloped stripes and so I cut them out to create a card accent.

I just had to share the adorable card Suzanne sent me with those stamps. It's just too cute! She's a super talented lady and I love visiting her at the Card Garden. I have some time to craft tonight and can't wait to get started on the Card Patterns Sketch this week.

CPS 109

Here's a quick card I made using last week's CPS 109. The paper is BG Euphoria. I used some fuzzy fiber to sew along the chipboard butterfly. This is one of the 8 cards I sold at the craft fair I went last Friday. The fair was hosted on campus so I went to the fair to promote the on campus craft club I head but I was also able to sell a few of my surplus cards as well. I got a chance to visit an LSS this weekend that I haven't been to in years so I need to restart my personal stash challenge. I was able to find out that there will be another craft fair at school at the end of the month so that might provide me some motivation to use up my stash.

Pink Elephant Easter Challenge and Other Projects

This week at the Pink Elephant they had an Easter challenge. I could use some Easter cards, but I've seen matchbooks before and I thought that since Easter and candy go together I would make some matchbooks instead.

I made a few other projects this week simply because I was feeling creative and not for any particular challenge.

Also this Friday I will be going to a craft show at Rutgers and selling some paper crafts (including the binder clips below). The table fee goes to charity and it will also give me a chance to promote my club so I figure even if no cards sell it will be worth the time. But if I can sell a few extra projects all the better because I can put the money away for a future supply splurge. Right now I'm going to try to stick to a personal stash challenge where I won't buy any new supplies until I've finished at least 25 projects (LO or card). I bought a lot of paper recently and can't use it as fast as I buy it so I figure a buying freeze should help.
