Card-A-Licious 11

I created this card for the Card-A-Licious 11 challenge. The tree top was inspired by Lea Lawson's Thanks card which included a treetop made completely of sequins. I used the Basic Grey Mellow collection because it was perfect for the orange and green part of the challenge. Then I used a Making Memories stamp to create a journaling tag. I've been trying to get some crafting and homework done but I've been feeling tired and a bit under the weather. I suppose its better to be sick at the beginning of the semester.

YMBD Saturday Scraplift Challenge

I made this for the YMBD Saturday Scraplift challenge. They have some talented ladies over there. I made one last week for the challenge but didn't post it in time so this week I'm making sure to post even though I couldn't get a good picture of the LO today. I made this about a concert I went to last year at my college. It was great because it was a really intimate concert in a small auditorium. I used my new Making Memories journal stamps for this project as well as some older products including the DCWV paper. I don't do many LOs anymore, but I'm really trying to make an effort to recently because recoding memories (with cute paper of course) was the original reason I became a scrapper. Right now I'm working on a card for CPS's 100th sketch celebration which I'll share later this week. This week will likely be the start of my very busy semester. The first week was a breeze but now that my professors are ready to really begin lectures I'm sure I'lll have to cut back on some of the pleasure reading and scrapping I've been doing.

3 Challenge Combo

For this card I set out to use only two challenges but wound up meeting all three at once. First I used Kazan's Sketch 18 at 2 Sketches 4 You, which I mixed up a little by making it square. Then I included polka dots (the background paper) for the Caardvarks challenge. I probably could have found something more obviously polka-dotted but I really want to use my new LilyKate paper from BG. Finally I was looking at the challenge at Card-A-Licious and already had everything I needed except something sparkly and since I've been loving adding gems to my projects, using them for the center of the flowers seemed perfect.

CPS Choose You Sketch

This week at CPS you were able to choose your own sketch from the 99 past sketches. It was fun to look through all the sketches and I could imagine making a card with any sketch. But I decided to make a square card and CPS #54 was perfect for a square card. I also used my new 6x6 pad of Lilykate papers for the card. I plan to use it as a valentine because of the soft sweet colors of the line.
Today I started classes for the new semester. My first teacher is a bit unusual but he seems intent on teaching us a lot and since its a course on special education I'm certainly poised to soak up the knowledge.

Let's Scrap Sketch

I've recently discovered an online community and challenge blog called Let's Scrap. This month Dayna created a sketch for everyone to use and I based this card off the sketch. I used the SEI papers that you can get at Scrappy Jo's during her awesome clearance sale. I also used some Colorbok chipboard and a Studio G Stamp. I've spent the day organizing my Christmas goodies in preparation for my return for school. I'll be moving back to my dorm on Sunday and want to have all my new supplies witih me to enjoy.

Cardalicious and 2S4Y

For this card I combined the challenge at Card-A-Licious (which was to make a "for you" card using green and letter stickers) and the sketch at 2S4Y. I've really enjoyed working with the SEI papers that Scrappy Jo sent me for the DT in January so I found myself reaching for them again. I love how others interpretted the sketch with an exposed inside and so I used the same idea. It's been freezing here in New Jersey so it's nice to stay inside with my craft supplies.

CPS #99

I created this card for CPS #99 and the Stamp Something challenge. The challenge this week at Stamp Something was a bit unexpected because the challenge was to not stamp on your creation. I do many cards without stamping but I can't do any without inking something. Like in this card where inked the wings besides inking the edges of my papers. I also got some help from Crayola markers for coloring the heart and adding the "stitching." I wound up with three bottles of Xmas red Stickles, all three as part of gifts. I'm so happy to finally have some Stickles to use. I wasn't sure what the big deal was until I tried them and loved them. For this card I mixed some Basic Grey and We Are Memory Keepers papers.

Favorites of '08

Over at Scrappy Jo's, the DT has been sharing it's favorites of the year. Check out their blog for everyone's favorites. Mine are below.

I love this project because it was fun to create something that will be used over and over.

I love this LO because of the pictures. I also really liked it because I didn't use the school colors but instead her favorite colors so it feels more personal.

I really like this because I created it to show all the great times the members of Pilot Me had mentoring the kids of New Brunswick over the past year.

I love this card because it was a fun to work with so many paper piecing creations all at once.

Caardvarks Party Time

I made this card using the SEI Poppy papers from Scrappy Jo's and with the Pagemaps sketch posted as a challenge at Caardvarks. It was a fun sketch and a great way to use little scraps I thought I wouldn't be able to find a use for. The design team has some adorable interpretations of the sketch and the challenge is open until the 17th so you still have time to enter. I also spent some time working on a submission for a new DT. My time with Scrappy Jo's is coming to an end and I liked it so much I would love to be part of a new DT. Also check out Michelle's blog for some fabulous adorable valentine blog candy.

Kazan's Sketch 17

I made this postcard style valentine, and its five companions below, with Kazan's Sketch 17 for Pat's Cards 4 Kids 1000 Valentines Challenge. Pat is trying to collect 1000 valentines for her local hospital's children's ward. Pat and her friends are offering some wonderful blog candy for those who send valentines. Please visit her blog for the details and help out if you can. She has already received 429 valentines, but 1000 is still in sight. For all these valentines I used Heidi Grace Love of my Life Theme paper and Making Memories tags. The cute little mug propping up my postcard has been popping up on blogs all over the place and I just had to go to Target and get myself one. I was lucky that a sales lady searched in the back for me because they weren't on shelves yet and she said there aren't many to go around.

CPS #98

I made this card for the Scrappy Jo's Design Team with the CPS sketch #98. I loved the simplicity of this sketch and its a great way to show case bold paper designs. Again I worked with the SEI Poppy Line. I just recently purchased the silver Cat's Eye ink that I have been using and its absolutely perfect with this line and impressive in its pigment. I also got those bits of Michael's bling for Christmas and they are so cute and its easy to find uses for them. They are self-adhesive but come in strips so you have to cut off the amount you want to use. This weekend at the mall I just found out about Aerie's a-list club. Aerie is a loungewear store that was started as a division of American Eagle and the a-list club is free to join and then one Thursday a month you can go in and pick up a free gift. This month is supposed to be a journal. So if you have an Aerie in a mall near you check it out. Also check out Rach's blog for a bit of awesome blog candy.

Sketch This 75

I created this using the SEI Poppy papers and KI Memories Lace Cardstock Scrappy Jo sent me as part of her DT. The paper and cardstock are both available in her store. I also used Sketch This 75 to create this card. I was only recently introduced to this fun sketch site and I like how challenging the past sketches have been and look foward to using more in January when they post new sketches.

Laura's Sketch 16

I designed this for the Scrappy Jo's design team using Laura's Sketch 16. I used the fabulous SEI Poppy papers and KI Memories Lace Cardstock which are available at Jo's Store. Even though I created this early last week I just got around to posting it and didn't make it in time for the weekly deadline. But speaking of sketch sites, CPS choose my Happy New Year card for their Reader Spotlight which certainly made my day.

Happy New Year and CPS 97

Here's a Happy New Year card I made with my Design Team materials from Scrappy Jo's and CPS 97. She sent me the SEI Poppy Line and which has beautiful metallics running through it. I used Cat's Eye silver ink on the chipboard and Frosted Lace Stickles around it. You can find ink and Stickles at Jo's store. The Poppy Line is great because on one side is the beautiful bright metallic but on the other is a more subdued tone and you can use both sides on one project. This two sided nature was extremely important in making the paper cupcake I made. I found the project in the January issue of Scrapbooks Etc magazine and decided to make one for my mom's birthday. I used styrofoam for the base and dress pins to put it all together. I will be sharing the tutorial with everyone at the Scrappy Jo's forum soon so everyone can try. I love Leah Fung's original design but I did make very slight changes to my method and decoration.
