10 Cards with Photoplay Best of Christmas and Avery Elle Snow Fun

Hello crafty friends! Today I have a bit of a different 6x6 paper pad tutorial. I won't be using the whole pad but I will show how to create 10 cards with minimal scraps. I used a few dies and the Avery Elle Snow Fun stamp set. All supplies are linked at the bottom of this post. I will leave you the measurements and sketches as relevant for these cards. These snowmen were colored many months ago but my best guess for the colors used would be C00, C1, R 35, R37, R39, G94, G99. Check out the video if you want to hear some other crafty tips. All is Calm All is Bright for Butterfly Reflections Ink

Hello crafty friends! Today I have a card that features two amazing stamp sets. Check out my video for more on how I combine Avery Elle's More Stories and Neat and Tangled's Winter Trees.

As you can see in the video sometimes when I make a card I start with the stamp set(s) in mind and make a sketch. I keep my stamp sets in zip top bags and sometimes I will sketch out an idea and leave it in the bag for another time. But this card I knew I wanted to make right away. I can't resist a cute fox so he had to be colored.

When using watercolor or Distress techniques be sure to use Ranger Archival Jet Black but for Copics reach for the Momento Tuxedo Black pad and marker. A great clear embossing powder is essential for a resist technique like this one. And you can pick it all up at the Butterfly Reflections Ink store for 30% off until Monday December 1st so head on over!

Make A Wish

I've loved these Storybook stamps from Avery Elle for a long time and I love how they pair so perfectly with this Sun Ray Stencil from My Favorite Things. I used this stencil in a similar way last week this time I decided to skip the vellum to create a brighter card. For cardstock panel I used the Stitched Rectangle Stackables from Lawn Fawn. These dies add just the right detail and I am addicted to using them. I also used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders to create the hill. I love all the little extras in the set that help set the scene such as the grass and butterflies. With so many clearance items currently in the shop you can score some new favorites and great deals to reach the $60 free shipping threshold.

Hip Hip with a Video

Today I have a card that was inpsired by the latest Avery Elle AEIHeartU challenge to use just one word. The video explains more about how I made this card.

As you heard in the video the set is Hipsterpotamus by Avery Elle and the papers are from Authentique.

You Are My True North

The new Avery Elle AEIHeartU challenge is such a fantastic trend: Gold. I am not someone who reaches for gold often but that's what makes the challenge so fun.

I wanted to keep this card super simple to let the stamps from the new to me Knotty stamp set shine. I stamped out the design in black on a scratch paper and then carefully gold heat embossed the design. The thing about clean and simple cards is they can be very easy to mess up which makes me even more nervous to attempt them. It's quite tricky to photograph the shine on this one but I am very happy with how it turned out.

You Are My Anchor

The new Avery Elle AEIHeartU challenge is such a fantastic trend: Gold. I am not someone who reaches for gold often but that's what makes the challenge so fun.

I was very excited to work with the new to me Knotty stamp set. I used gold embossing on the stamping and then colored in the anchor image with some simple watercolors. Watercolor is perfect for this nautical set.

Happy Birthday Party Animal

The latest AEIHeartU challenge is to make your own background paper. I love using my Distress Inks to make my own backgrounds to this was a very fun challenge. I haven't yet used my Party Animal stamp set so I knew that was the one I would use. I used Picked Raspberry, Spice Marmalade and Mustard Seed Distress Inks for the background. Then I stamped the balloon animal is Archival Jet Black ink. The border is some DCWV glitter paper. There glitter paper is so smooth and doesn't flake off. I love it!

Thankful Flowers

The current Avery Elle AEIHeartU challenge is to make a mother's day card. Unfortunately I don't have a mother's day specific sentiment or an alphabet from Avery Elle but I think the sentiment "Thankful for all you do" from Handwritten Notes  is very fitting for mother's day. I decided to create a fun custom background with a watercolor wash and then layered the flowers and elements from Thanks a Bunch in some different colors of Distress Ink. I'm still not very happy with the way the picture turned out. But after trying a few times I have given up and settled that this will be the best shot of it I can get. If you love Avery Elle go check out this fabulous challenge!

Best Wishes

This weekend at my LSS I purchased the lovely Avery Elle set Thanks a Bunch. I wanted to ink it up ASAP so I decided to participate in the TIME OUT Challenge 4 to CASE Virginia Lu and the Pink Elephant challenge to use pastels. I stamped the main flower image in some different Distress Ink colors to create a patterned paper strip and then stamped it again with some extras for the focal image. Check out the current Blitsy deals for a great price on Distress Ink.

Best Wishes AEIHeartU

The current Avery Elle AEIHeartU challenge is a color combo. I loved the colors but wasn't sure I had quite the right shades of ink. In the end though, I think it works. I recently treated myself to my first Avery Elle set Handwritten Notes. I love this set, but creating a card focal point with just a sentiment set is a little tricky for me. I stamped out the saying and embossed them with glitter white and black on regular white cardstock. Then I blended some Distress Inks to create the focal pattern. To tie in the rest of the color scheme I mounted it onto white and added some trim and sequins. Then I mounted it onto another simple background created with an Impression Obsession Cover a Card background stamp. If you love Avery Elle go check out this fabulous challenge!

AEIHeartU Watercolor Challenge Take 2

The current Avery Elle AEIHeartU challenge is to use watercolor. Like many crafters I have fallen in love with this trend. I recently treated myself to my first Avery Elle set Handwritten Notes. I love this set because it has great sentiments for every occasion, but also because you can mix it up with the fun extra sayings. I decided to create a fun custom background using a mix of the thank you style sentiments. I stamped out the various sayings and clear embossed them on watercolor paper. Then I put down some Distress Inks on my craft sheet, sprayed some water and rubbed the watercolor panel in them. I didn't worry too much about being precise. I just made sure all areas were covered and then dipped a bit extra to add some splatters and unevenness. I wanted the panel to shine so I was sure to use a contrasting color for the background. AEIHeartU Watercolor Challenge

For this card I decided to pop in the 'really' for emphasis. I wanted to make the sentiment the star of the show for a create a fun rainbow panel using Distress Markers. I laid down a few streaks of each color on some watercolor paper and then blended them a little with an aquabrush. I added a bit of shine to the hearts with Brush Pewter Distress Stain. I created a simple background with an Impression Obsession Cover a Card background stamp. If you love Avery Elle go check out this fabulous challenge!
