Scrap It With a Song #30

I really enjoyed my time on the DT of Scrap It With a Song but I have yet to participate since leaving the team. Mostly because I've been so busy and also because using songs can be a bit of a stretch for me. But this week's song lends itself so easily to a card I had to play along. The song is You've Got a Friend in Me from the Toy Story soundtrack. I basically used the song title as my sentiment and kept the colors bright and bold in keeping with the childlike inspiration of the song. I think it makes a great encouragement card. I searched my stickers for a friend sticker and then built everything on from there. Little letter stickers from Adorn It for the rest of the sentiment and papers from Cosmo Cricket Get Happy inspired by the bold red. I've finally taken pictures of some others cards I've been working on so hopefully I'll be posting some more soon. Enjoy your Sunday!

Scrap It With a Song #20

After 20 fabulous weeks I'm saying goodbye as a DT member at Scrap It with a Song. We have lots of great new talent joining the team and I figured that with student teaching coming I didn't want to reapply for the team. But I had a great time and hope I can play along at least some of the time. For week 20 the song is Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder. I went a little untraditional with my take. I thought "lovely" "wonderful" and "precious" were great words to describe the cards that students made me during my last school placement. I thought the ABC Sassafras paper was great because it was school and the little monster worked because they were a trying group of kids but like that monster still very lovable.

We are being sponsored by Crafty Ribbons who will be giving the winner 20 jewel colored heavily glittered ribbon. Sound like a really fun prize so please share your creations for this week!

Scrap It With a Song #19

At Scrap It With a Song this week we are celebrating Summertime the great Will Smith formerly known as The Fresh Prince. It’s a fun song from his early career before we was a movie star. I went with a fun simple card that was a bit summery but could be used anytime. That is a touch of Sassafras Lass paper that I colored in part way with some gel pens. Then I spelled out my sentiment with MLS letter stickers. This week we are being sponsored by Digital Delights which makes adorable digital stamps. This is the perfect week to join us at Scrap It With a Song because you can scrap some of your recent summer memories.

Scrap It With a Song #18

This week at Scrap It With a Song the song for inspiration is Get Here by Oleta Adams. I thought all the mention of travel would be a good reason to use it for a LO about a trip. Here's is my craft club's spring trip to Princeton (we got there by railway as in the journaling). I used Sassafras Anthem papers and stickers. I also used some pieces of the brochures we collected. This week we are being sponsored by The Paper Trail an online scrapbooking store who is offering a $20 gift certificate. We've had less than 20 participants these past few weeks. I would think great sponsors and the ability to create any type of paper craft would elicit a little more response. If you've never played along I urge you to give it a try. If nothing else who wouldn't want a 1 in 20 chance of winning a $20 gift certificate. So whip up a quick card or beautiful LO inspired by our song this week and share!

Scrap It With a Song #17

This week at Scrap It With a Song we are being inspired by the song With You by Jessica Simpson. Remember you can be inspired any part of the song and make any sort of creation you want. The event I'm scrapping was called Storytelling 'with you' and me so I went with it. We also have a fabulous sponsor in Crop Chocolate who has generously donated $20 in crop credits for the winner. Cant' wait to see your take!

Scrap It With a Song #16

The song this week at Scrap It with a Song is Faith Hill's This Kiss. Now I'm not big on the lovey dovey songs maybe because I don't take lovey dovey pictures but there are ways to be inspired by this song without going with the love theme. So take a shot at it. Remember we love to see cards just as much as we love LOs. We have YourScrapbookStash.com sponsoring this week. They are generously giving the winner a $20 gift certificate! Imagine $20 of the latest and greatest supplies for free, sure to get you inspired!

Scrap It With a Song #15

This week at Scrap It With a Song we are using the song Somewhere Over the Rainbow the Katherine McPhee version. I created a mini album for this week about graduating from college. I focused on the dreams really do come true lyric. There are so many fabulous ways to use this song and if nothing else a rainbow project is really fun! Our sponsor this week is Sew Many Cards which makes some adorable digital stamps that I have in the past had the pleasure to work with and they will be giving the winner 5 digi stamps of their choice. Check out the blog for more inspiration and to share your creation!

Scrap It With a Song #14

This week we are focusing on the tune, 'L-O-V-E' by Nat King Cole at Scrap It With a Song. You can focus on a lyrical line from the song, or on the theme of love. Also consider letting the lettering style of spelling out a word with a sentence for each letter or any other inspiration you can take from it. I was inspired by the lettering style and chose to represent my sentiment with just representative letters. I used Cosmo Cricket Hello Sunshine papers. Our sponsor this week is once again our DT member, Angela, aka Toucan Scraps. She designs digital scrapbooking and craft printable kits. Today she is offering the winner of this challenge a pack of 6 digi papers (8 x 8 inches) from her store at I Did It Creations (the winner can choose).

Scrap It With a Song #13

Scrap It With a Song is back with a new song this week; Happy Together by The Turtles. Our sponsor this week is once again, Cassandra from PaperMom. She has adorable digi images and handmade items to swoon over. She is offering the winner 3 digi images!! Check out the blog to see more DT inspiration. My LO was done with some Sassafras papers. I kept it really simple so the focus would be on the fun images and journaling. These are the girls that I lived with freshmen year, four years later right before graduation.

Scrap It With a Song #12

This week the song at Scrap It With a Song is America the Beautiful fitting with the holiday. We have a generous sponsor in Nikki Sivils Scrapbooks. Check out the prize package and other DT inspiration at the blog. Since it was before the holiday I didn't have any patriotic photos so I scrapped about a beautiful place in America that I've been too. Lake George New York is a gorgeous place. I used an old sketch from Creative Scrappers #107

Scrap It With a Song Challenge #11

This week our song at Scrap It With a Song is I Can See Clearly Now as performed by Jimmy Cliff. My intereptation might take a bit of explanation but first… Our sponsor is the wonderful Michelle’s Scrapbooking and More home to Pixie Cottage Stamps. They also sell patterned paper, copics, and even more stamps. They are offering a $10 gift certificate to the winner.

As for my take I went with the sunny day theme of the song and scrapbooked about a sunny day spent outside. This goes to show you were are looking for creative takes on the song but just give us a quick explanation for the connection you’re making. I used a Sassafras Lass background, some Thickers for the title and CC Tiny Type for accents. Please check out the rest of the DT on the blog for extra inspiration, including members of the Michelle’s Scrapbooking and More DT, and then share your take on the song.

Scrap It With a Song Challenge #10

Another week, another song at Scrap It With a Song. This week's song is Ridin Solo by Jason Derulo. I took a lyric right from the song to make this graduation card for my younger cousin. She listens to all kinds of music, but I thought she would be a great person to appreciate the hip-hop inspiration of the card. I used Sassafras Lass papers and Cosmo Cricket tiny type for this card. When I first got tiny type I didn't know that I would ever use it but I find that I love it and want more. This week is being sponsored by our DT member Angela's shop Toucan Scraps. The winner will get a 6 pack of 8x8 digi papers. Check out the DT inspiration on the blog then share with us your take.

Scrap It With a Song Challenge #9

Back with a new song at Scrap It With a Song. This week is Could Not Ask for More by Sara Evans. It is pretty touching and quite frankly a bit sappy, but I decided to go another way with it. My LO's title comes from the lyrics "these are the moments." I paired that phrase with a picture of my cousin and I that really exemplifies are fun together attitude and relationship. That picture is from my 21st birthday where she is pretending to steal a lick of the whipped cream off the top of my first legal drink. The rest of the DT has some great inspiration so please visit the blog to see that and then show us your take. It can be sappy or silly a card or a LO. Anything goes as long as you link it to the song.

Scrap It With a Song Challenge #8

This week's new song at Scrap It With a Song is Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. This song has so many possibilities. For my DT LO, I focused on a LO about FUN with 'fun' in the title. Here is a LO about me and my cousins having fun feeing dolphins in Sea World. I've used some Sassafrass Lass background paper and Basic Grey letters.

This week is being sponsored by the fabulous YourScrapbookStash.com! They have generously donated a $25 gift certificate to one lucky winner. I can't wait to see everyone's take on this song and I'm sure that gift certificate is some serious motivation as well. Check out the blog for more DT inspiration.

Scrap It With a Song Challenge #7

Scrap It With a Song is back with a new song this Memorial Day. Speaking of which I would like to take a moment to say that taking a day to honor the troops is so important and I'm so thankful for their sacrifice. My father spent quite a bit of time away when I was very young and as much as it would have been great if had been with us, I appreciate the sacrifice he and all other members of the military make and have made to keep us safe.

The song this week is I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack. It is a beautiful song that I have loved for years and after listening to it again I knew right away that I wanted to do a graduation LO with the song. The song speaks about a lot of hope for the future of a young person. I thought that these photos of preschool graduation would be great because the song represents the hopes I have for the young children I work with. As you can see I did have to blur out their adorable little faces but trust me they were all so so cute on their big day.

The Craft Garden is our generous sponsor this week and is offering a git certificate to the winner. I used my new CC Girl Friday papers for this LO but mixed with a few other brands of embellies like MME letters, SL rubons, and Paperchase owl stickers. I'm sure you will all have some fantastic ideas about how to use this new song. Please share your takes with us and check out the blog for more inspiration from the design team.

Scrap It With a Song Challenge #6

This week the new song at Scrap It With a Song in Sweet Child o Mine by Guns and Roses. I thought the song fit well with the Honey Pie papers from Cosmo Cricket so I made a simple card with them. I'd love to see some other takes on the song so be sure to link yours up. You can be inspired in any way by the song from the lyrics to the theme. Also create any type of papercraft that suits you. We have a fabulous sponsor in the Crop Stop who is offering a $10 gift certificate.

Scrap It With a Song Challenge #4

Scrap It With a Song is back with a new challenge and this week the song is True Colors by Cyndi Lauper. We also have a wonderful sponsor in Sew Many Cards. They have super cute stamps and they are offering the winner 5 digital stamps!

I used the line "show me a smile" for this photo of my cousin and her pup. That dog has the funniest smile. The paper is all Sassafras Lass. I love SL when I want a really vibrant LO. I can't wait to see what you all make with the new song. Stop by the blog for extra inspiration.

Scrap It With a Song Challenge #3

First I hope you all had a fantastic National Scrapbooking Day. I spent the day with my mom at the LSS and had lots of fun learning about some new products and picking up some clearance Basic Grey. My scrapbooking budget is tight since I ordered from the box sale at Sassafras Lass. Anyway... It's time for a new song challenge at Scrap It With a Song! The new song is Paparazzi by Lady Gaga and I went with a card this week. I think that song begs for funky and I went with funky colors and a funky little saying right from the lyrics. The papers are from Sassafras Lass. I can't wait to see everyone's interpretation of the song this week. Also Christina is sponsoring us again this week with a fabulous card kit. Check out the website for the details on the kit and for more DT inspiration!

There were so many wonderful entries into the first challenge and now Scrap It With a Song is back this week with the second challenge. This week we would love to see your projects inspired by Once Upon a Dream by Emily Osment. The winner this week will receive a personalized shadow box! I took my title from the song lyrics. The picture is from my senior prom about four years ago. I used SEI Bridgeport for just about everything. Such a fun elegant collection.

Please check out the rest of the DT:

Scrap It With a Song Inaugural Design Team

So I promised I had some exciting news to share. Well I have been asked to join the inaugural design team of the new papercraft challenge blog Scrap It With a Song! Each week the challenge will be to create a papercraft project based on a song. I will be doing lots of LOs for this work so I hope you'll enjoy seeing my LOs as much as seeing my cards. I'm excited to see that Christina choose a design team with such a diverse range of styles and can't wait to see more from the DT.

The first challenge was Your Song by Elton John and you have until April 25th to link up your creation for your chance to win 50 Prima flowers! The last line "Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen" was my main inspiration. This is a little boy who I observed for a semester as part of my fieldwork in psychology. I had to look at many aspects of his development and take pictures of how he was in and around the classroom. It was a great experience and I got a little attached I must admit so I wanted to record the experience simply.

In the LO I used almost entirely Cosmo Cricket Joy Ride. Apparently this collection doesn't get as much love. While I must say I am more apt to reach for Material Girl or Garden Variety for a card I think Joy Ride is perfect for a little boy LO. Even if the layout isn't about traveling they love cars, trucks, planes etc so much it works great.
